Decked was representing the ladies with Louise Brangwin and Vicky Newman drawing in the monster 7 hour live drawing session, featuring artwork around the theme of Mythology -Medusa, Leda and the swan and butterflies and bees representing the afterlife. Vicky Newman's Lady Luck screen print is being auctioned for Art4Haiti -a project set up by artist Sarah Larnach (of Ladyhawke album cover fame) and Save the Children and being sold on ebay by Inkygoodness.

Decked 2 is open for submissions

Decked 2 is officially open for submissions from now until 31st January.

Each artist has to hand paint/print/carve etc one individual skatedeck. The subject matter is up to you. These will then be exhibited in the Coningsby Gallery, London for 2 weeks from the 15th-29th August 2010.

The cost per artist is £50 and a 10% commission will be taken on any work sold.

It was great to see so many people come down to take a look, and it was hi-fives all round for the quality of artwork and uniqueness of the boards! So it finally happened, after 8 months of emailing and calling and chasing and advertising and designing, we actually got to hang the Decked exhibition yesterday. It's a little sad to lose the amazing decks that have been in our living room for the last 2 weeks but they're looking incredible hung in StolenSpace.

Vicky and I need to say a massive thanks to Alex, Dan, Jamie and Lisa for driving and helping us hang everything. It wouldn't have been this easy without you guys!

Here's a few pictures but go and see the exhibition in the flesh, you won't be disappointed. Promise! Take some cash too as not only are the decks themselves for sale but there's some crazy good canvases and prints from Vicky Newman, Elfin, Lucas Deverell and Tom Stanley that I guarantee you'll want to buy. Also go out for food too because there's some incredible places to eat round there.

Remember private view on the 27th!! 7pm-9pm, its gonna be a blast!

These beautiful illustrations are the work of illustrator Michelle Turton and will be featured within the latest GIRLS WHO DRAW postcard booklet.

Girls who draw are an international group of all female illustrators, each one with their own unique visual language. Their work is very diverse including slick digital graphics, quirky hand drawn characters, and humourous sequential imagery.The theme of this booklet is Menagerie.

There are 11 illustrators involved in the project - each illustrator has 2 postcards to design. Confirmed exhibitions to accompany the book are Here Gallery in Falmouth, July 2010 and Red Door Gallery in Edinburgh, August 2010. Owen Gildersleeve Collaborates with Thomas Forsyth

Graphic designer and illustrator Owen Gildersleeve is now joining forces with friend and product designer Thomas Forsyth for 'Decked'. The two have decided to collaborate after discussing developments for the project in Berlin, Germany.

Thomas Forsyth is passionate about designing and making. "I need to use my hands to think - it is when I start letting my hands work freely that I can realise ideas".

Whether working on product, one-off pieces, curation, building, or drawings, Thomas believes in "being creative with what you have, and resourceful with what you don't". This exploration of materials and their properties makes him feel most alive.

There is a playful, fantastical theme that runs through his work, and objects are often subject to emergent properties such as secret compartments. Thomas is internationally acclaimed for his Drawing Tops (spinning tops which use a pencil for the spindle), which have attracted attention ranging from Designboom to MUDAM (Museum of Modern Art, Luxembourg). These simple objects can be used to make beautiful and intricate marks, putting children and adults on an even playing field when it comes to creating artwork.

Thomas's success in 2009 has included 'People's Choice Award' at Bristol Design Festival and showcasing his work at the Drawing Inspirations Award Ceremony, held at The British Museum.

More recently his work has been leading towards creating larger scale, functional social/community spaces, that encourage interaction and multi-purpose, interdisciplinary use.

Dan Kitchener has had a nice couple of double page spreads and an interview over at Plus 1 magazine, he is also currently interviewed on the online arts site Crack For Your Eyes (take a look here!) and he has just finished the Prodigy poster for their Invaders Must Die tour....amazing! we can only conclude he doesn't sleep theses days!

Three of The Decked Project's artists are featured in this month's edition of Photoshop Creative! Louise Brangwin, EJ Miles and Vicky Newman are three of the four artists from House of Aces illustration collective and had their work showcased across four pages of the magazine. Jon's work focuses on symbols, stigma, beauty and our preconceived ideas of good and evil. and one of Finbarr (DAC)'s pieces on a pillar. Some amazing artists took part and it was all to raise money for the Brighton Youth Centre!

David Shillinglaw New Exhibitions!

David Shillinglaw has two exhibitions coming up this month in London town! The first is Visionaries on from 20 May – 10 June 2009 at Wallspace, All Hallows on the Wall, 83 London Wall, London.

Visionaries is a group exhibition celebrating those who explore the territories of the spiritual, the religious and the human condition. Artists include Stanley Spencer, Peter Howson, the Chapman brothers, Billy Childish, and Adam Neate. Read more about Visionaries at:

Aaron Petz selected works!

To get us started introducing some of our artists here at Decked we asked the immensely talented New York designer and illustrator Aaron Petz to kick off with some of his works and a few words on how he created them...Avenged Sevenfold:
This silkscreen was designed for the Avenged Sevenfold All Excess DVD. The Silver is a reversal where you can see your reflection. I used halftones to make the stencil appear to be a real stencil. This DVD went gold. Warner Bros Records.

Boy Malitia:

This illustration was adapted from a National Geographic photograph of boy soliders in Africa. They are 7-18 yrs old in most cases and trained to kill. It was heartbeaking looking through all those images. You can see the expression of carelessness in the boys eyes. Private study.

Love Birds:
A Tribute to Roy Liechtenstein, Love Birds is a new adaptation of a piece of his work. The shirt was created using a direct to garment printing method and was created to look weathered and old. This is a tattoo inspired line with many call outs to classic American style tattoo art. Sweetest Vice Clothing.

Monique Baines:
Singer / Songwriter Monique Baines of of SRC Records debut album artwork called, "Listen". This image was conceptualized by hand, then roughly illustrated digitally for the perspective. Then we took a photo of the artist to plug her in to the composition. Album will be in stores soon.

Our Lady G:
This image was an original graffiti piece I did on the back of my house. From there I made a few sketches of it, scanned them in and the took a few photos and comped them all in using different stylized methods EX: line, halftones, blurs etc. What was left is now the trademark shirt of Fallen Angels.

Soulfly:
This image of Dana was illustrated and placed esthetically around a flock of birds. Soulfly puts on a charity event each year for Dana and will continue to do so. My job every year it to make sure the art looks better and better. This admat was for the Phoenix Newtimes.

Eco Skateboards!

Check this out! these is the story of the recycled boards provided for the Decked project by Faltown Skateboards and how they have been beautifully reshaped by Tristan Harris from Alternature, saving nearly four tonnes of maple wood and creating some really unique longboards and truly original canvases for our artists to get their teeth into!

Falmouth Lomography!

The Decked crew took a road trip down to beautiful Falmouth in Cornwall to collect the eco skateboards by Cornish skateboard company Faltown Skateboards; -the awesome fellows providing the 'canvas' for the exhibition. Life is always better when sliced into four and shot Lomo style, and what better way to check out the landscape that inspired the world's first slide deck!
